POWER Painting-BODY Painting
Advanced Abstract Painting in Mixed Media
7 Thursday DAYS, 10:45am-2:45pm, beginning Jan-12th Fee: $ 325 for 7x4hrs
This is a very experiential, and experiement oriented class centered on the BODY and MOVEMENT. Body gestures will be transferred on surfaces to create abstarct imagery with momentum–underlying idea is similar to that of calligraphy : unleash yr power to run through you and let it create-express itself, while you stop thinking, and controlling.
-Where is yr power–find your source within the Body--how can you express it?
-Loosen up--Bold moves and gestures--Locating and relelasing Hesitation-Spots in the Body
-Show yourself--here I am, like it or not!! --come out of hiding
-Materials applied with power and certainty–what kinds of marks does power leave on a surface?
-The power in rhythm and its marks.
-Research non-art materials that can express body/power–bring to class
-On occassion we will explore Pairwork--dynamic, interactive gestures, a dialogue between 2 sources of Power.
Possible Techniques: squirt, roll, throw, bodypainting, puttyknive-wetpaint, inkbrush, tear and collage, branch-drawing, and more.
Final piece: will involve incorporating the materials generated throughout the workshops with painting, collage, or whatever works for you. (except smelly or toxic)
